Living in Ventura County, I don’t get to experience many food trucks.  I travel to DC often, for work, and had the chance to check out the Truckeroo fest last Friday.  Truckeroo is a gathering of some of the most famous, and infamous food trucks in the Washington, DC metro area.  The 1st Friday of every month, they gather outside of the Nationals Baseball Stadium all day long.  I didn’t have much planned for lunch, so I decided to check it out.
All I can say is WOW!

Lunchtime at Truckeroo

The variety, quality, and ambience was phenomenal.  I tried a few of the vendors’ wares and all were delicious.  Unfortunately I ran out of cash (and tummy space) before I could try them all.  Later in the afternoon, I noticed that some of the vendors had closed up because they were out of food.  However most ALL of them had notices that they would be re-stocking for the post 5pm hour.  How cool is that?

From the tacos, to the lobster rolls, the mac&cheese and the various sweets a good time seemed to be had by all.  The live bands and the beer garden didn’t hurt either.  SE DC, around the ball park, doesn’t get food trucks regularly and the choices for lunch are very limited (Subway, Five-Guys, Justin’s and a few crappy cafeterias in some of the buildings).  I would be real nice to have more food trucks, more often, especially at this particular venue when the stadium isn’t being used anyway.

OK food truck folks, it’s up to you, hungry office workers are waiting!  More food truck treats in DC South East!
